The Challenge of Living in A One-Room Atlanta Apartment
May 13th, 2008 by atlanta apartments
People who are informed about Atlanta apartments know that they come in a wide range of shapes, layouts and sizes. Still many are not as well informed and think that all Atlanta apartments are like regular apartments, where there are separate divisions with doors for, say, a kitchen, a bathroom, a bedroom and other parts that are expected from a regular house. Well, usually, it’s true. But not all the time.
I went to a loft apartment for the first time when I was a teenager. It was in an old warehouse and for me it was an unbelievably big space. The ceiling was so high; I guess it could not be less than twenty feet from the floor. Originally, the loft was just like a big, square room. There were no divisions at all, even for the bathroom (There was only space in one corner for the toilet and shower)
The loft’s occupant was female artist and she had brilliantly designed, decorated and decorated the loft apartment. To maintain the open-air atmosphere of the place and yet have some private places, she installed five-foot tall dividers instead of full walls. The private areas looked liked office cubicles had she not made the “walls” more stylish. . Some “walls” were made of frosted glass that allowed light to enter the ‘walled” areas but still provided the desired privacy. The “walls” actually had wheels so they could be moved around if needed. With those movable “walls” or “panels” she was able to create two bedrooms and a bathroom. Her kitchen, living room and dining room were not totally separated as the bedrooms and bathroom but she used some furnishing to provide some invisible demarcation line. I was so impressed with the brilliance and originality of the apartment’s furnishings and interior design that I can recall the details vividly after almost twenty years.
Atlanta apartment lofts are popular one-room lodging places but there are other kinds of one-room Atlanta apartments for rent. The small and plain looking college dorms first come to mind but do not forget the Atlanta apartments on the residential basements, over the garages as well as the studio types and a few other types.
The challenge of living in a one-room Atlanta apartment space will need the full support of all the creativity a person has to come up with appropriate kind of decoration. But do not be scared; take it as the chance to show off how creative you are.
