Moving into an Atlanta Apartment for the First Time

When most people are moving into an Atlanta apartment for the first time it is because they are fresh out of their parents’ house. If that’s you, you may have no idea what you‘re going to need. Lets look at just a few of the necessities.
The first thing all first-time Atlanta apartment renters needs is of help. If the Atlanta apartment isn’t to far away, get your friends and family to help you move. Make sure you have vehicles ready if you are not renting a moving truck and have everything packed and labeled. Don’t label too many boxes ?miscellaneous.? Once you are at your new Atlanta apartment and you want your spatula for the fried eggs you cooked, or the television remote, or a roll of toilet paper, you may begin to have trouble finding it.
If you have to go up a flight of stairs make sure to warn the help you have acquired about that. If anyone has back trouble this may be the time they back out. Measure all the entryways, hallways and doorways in your new Atlanta apartment. The old couch you got from your neighbor may be great in your living room but may not fit through your Atlanta apartment door without taking the legs off. You also want to make sure that you don’t take anything apart you don’t have to. If your table will go down the hallway and make the corners without scraping the walls then don’t make extra work for yourself.
Make sure you know what is in the Atlanta apartment before you make a list of what you need. There will be lots of little extras to look at later. You will need a bed, bed sheets, pillow and dresser for the bedroom; a couch or something resembling a couch to sit on; and table area of some type to eat at. The television may be optional, but most people want one and depending on the type of television you get you may need a table for it to sit on.
After you are fairly sure you have all the big items you need, it‘s time to start with the small things. Make sure you have an alarm clock and enough clothes hangers. Most people either have not near enough or way to many. The bedroom is pretty simple as far as necessities go.
Next the bathroom. Towels, washrags, soap, shampoo, rug so you don’t slip getting out of the shower, shower curtain if one isn’t provided and your long list of hygiene items. Next, it‘s on to the kitchen.
For a first time Atlanta apartment owner this will be a long list. You need cleaning supplies - soap for the dishes, sponges, dish towels and pot holders, and all the cooking and eating utensils. That is a shopping trip in itself. Then you have to get the food. If you have never filled your own house before make sure you know what kind of food you will be cooking. If you like certain meals write those down so you can be sure to have all the ingredients needed for those recipes. Don‘t forget salt, pepper and other spices you like to use.
Remember that your mother isn’t moving with you into your first Atlanta apartment to clean up after you. You will need your very own broom and mop to help keep the place clean. If you have wood furniture make sure to get the special cleaners you will need. If you have a patio area you may need items to clean off the porch separate of the one you use for your dishes and kitchen table. There are lots of little things to remember but don’t forget to get excited and enjoy yourself.
