Decorating their apartment room is most likely not high on an incoming college student’s to-do or priority list. They should however, consider that their Atlanta college apartment room shall be their temporary home for the next nine months or so of the current and possibly even the succeeding years. Since the surroundings have some psychological effect on people, it is beneficial for the students to make an effort to make their Atlanta college apartment room a pleasant place they would want to return to after classes.
Following are some pieces of advice to the college students who plan to stay in an Atlanta college apartment room but have no idea how and where to start decorating their apartment rooms:
· Discuss with roommates – You’re not the only occupant of the room, so you’ll need inputs from your roommates not only in terms of the color scheme but also on what decorations to put. Who knows, you do not need to spend anything anymore as each one happens to have something to contribute that fortunately look good together.
· Paint it !! If it is allowed, adding colors through paint is a great way to perk the surroundings as well as to cover some unsightly or worn out areas. Besides, paint is not expensive and the process is so easy, you and you room mates can do the job yourselves. If you can, try to ask for tips from the store where you bought the paint.
· Attend to the windows. Most Atlanta college apartment rooms have blinds or shades on the windows but adding a swag of fabric, an attractive valence or a full curtain will make that part of the room cozier.
· Framed art could be cheap reprints. Family pictures will not only fill a vacant room, it will help you manage homesickness. And frames can be inexpensive if you try making them yourself. A frame can be made out of corrugated board or poster board, cut into size such that there is around two inches of space around the prints or photos. Then, cut a hole for the item to be framed. Attach the photo or print to the frame with a binder clip and you now have a framed decoration. Easy, isn’t it?
· Visit yard sales. A lot or valuable decorative items can be bought for such low, low prices.
· Light it up. If bright light for studying is not needed, having less bright light will give the room a softer look.
So there, with creativity and cooperation, you can turn your Atlanta college apartment room a cozy place you would like to go home to at the end of a grueling day. Just like home!
