Atlanta Apartment Pets: Dogs or Cats?

If you are living in an Atlanta apartment and thing kin of getting a pet, then reconsider the positive and negative aspects associated with owning a pet, for an Atlanta apartment dweller. Of all the popular breeds of pets, cats and dogs are the most favorite of the lot. Though each one of them have their own set of problems, felines seem to score over the canines due to the following reasons:
1. Cats as pets are a better option than dogs, if you are residing in an Atlanta apartment. Not all Atlanta apartments are ‘pet- friendly’ and permit pets onto the premises. But of those which allow pets, many do not accept dogs as easily as cats. Sometimes, it’s easier to convince the homeowner to sanction the entry of a cat into their Atlanta apartment as compared to dogs. So, owning a cat gives you more freedom of choice in renting.
2. As compared to their canine counterparts, cats have a natural instinct for cleanliness. Unlike dogs, cats prefer using a litter box when the need arises. In the same context, unlike dogs, neither do cats have to be taken outside to relieve themselves.
3. Since, cats have a natural tendency to follow hygiene and clean themselves regularly, they do not require to be bathed as frequently as dogs.
4. Cats are known to be quiet and contented creatures, with an occasional mewing and yowling. However, the cat’s noise is nothing compared to a dog’s incessant barking and howling, especially when the dog is left alone. So, when you have a cat for a pet, you can be rest assured that your neighbors will not be disturbed, even if you are away for a longer period of time.
5. Not all Atlanta apartment building complexes have the facility or grounds for dog walking. Since, cats do not have to be taken for walks, either for relieving purposes or just to keep them active as you would have to do for a dog; cats are definitely an appropriate pet for any Atlanta apartment dweller. Besides this, there may also be safety concerns over walking a dog after evening hours.
6. Cats are convenient option than dogs, especially if you are single and have to work till late hours. A cat can be left alone, if there is ample provision for food and water, without having to worry about anxiety and separation issues. But if you have a dog and just in case you get late, you will have concerns about it making a mess on your carpet or suffering from agony of separation. For longer trips, you may even have to consider paying for boarding your dog at a kennel. Thus, you are not required to rearrange your life or postpone your schedule, if you opt for a cat as a pet.
7. Contrary to the common belief, cats are as compassionate and friendly as dogs. They are clever creatures, who can even easily be trained to do tricks like dogs.
In short, cats offer more freedom to their Atlanta apartment owners in terms of convenience, flexibility, and accommodation.
