Atlanta Apartment Decorating Ideas Using Bookshelves

In Atlanta apartment living sometimes your landlord may not be flexible on what you can and cannot change about your living area. Adding a bookshelf is a great idea for a quick change. It is versatile and doesn’t involve a lot of cost for most of these ideas. Use them anyway you would like for a quick, easy and inexpensive Atlanta apartment makeover.
*Theme up your Atlanta apartment room. Take a look at your bookshelf and decide what the theme is going to be. This is great if you want to do baseball memorabilia or your daughter’s favorite China dolls. The bookshelf isn’t lined with just those things. You put decals or stencil and paint corresponding items to the bookshelf or find book ends to match the idea. It livens up a room and pulls things together beautifully. This is great for the bedroom or office space.
*Lighten up. Take your old bookshelf and find the spots in it that leave the best angle for light. Battery-powered lighting is a good option for this place unless you have a nearby outlet. If you have a vase or decorative knick knack in the case it sets it off, making a nice change with little effort.
*Framed bookshelf. If your bookshelf is tall and comes close to the ceiling, find the same kind of trim or molding to put around it. This will give the illusion that the bookshelf is part of the wall but you have done nothing to the structure.
*Make it antique or Zen. This will require a little more effort but can be tons of fun. Take construction paper. Pick colors that accent the room, just two or three, or make it antique looking with its own color scheme. Make a book cover for each of your books. If your room was dark, all white might be striking or all dark red a real eye catcher.
*Hidden away. If the back of your bookshelf needs a little sprucing up take some wicker chair backer and line the back of your shelf with it after you have stained or painted it. This creates a great focal point and is so easy.
*Treasure island. This one is great with kids. Let them line the shelves with things they find and fix up from the flea market or antique store. They make great book ends and can be beautiful to look at.
*Rainbow slide. Take the books and items to sit on the bookshelf and arrange them in an order that really catches the eye. Tall to smallest thickest to thinnest. Then when you are done you can make a cover for them if you like.
*Artsy. A little art can go a long way. Find a piece that sits perfectly on one of the shelves and secure it there. Make sure it fits whatever you plan to theme it around. Whether you have a painting or a beautiful vase it can be fun to plan around.
*Family time. Take your family photos and personalize your bookshelf. Use the old black and white photos or the most recent, it really doesn’t matter. Make sure to secure all picture frames so they don’t fall off.
*Day dreams. Have your family come up with a theme. It could be vacations they would like to take or places you have been. Line the shelf with the items. It’s sure to be a conversation starter when it includes sand from the ocean, a rock from Mt. St Helens, or pictures from Graceland.
No matter what you decide to do be sure and have fun. Since none of the ideas are permanent they should be great to do over and over again in your Atlanta apartment.
